Social media was abuzz following a hit at a parking lot in Sandown Road, Parklands, where a Mauritian national was shot and killed inside a flashy black Porsche.
Shocked bystanders filmed the aftermath, which showed the car riddled with bullet holes.
A witness claimed suspects inside a white vehicle exited it and fired several shots at the 55-year-old man before fleeing the scene with his cellphone on Saturday.
Police have since indicated that they believed the incident was a hit.
Police spokesperson, Joseph Swartbooi, said: “Provincial Serious and Violent Crime detectives are hard at work pursuing leads in a bid to apprehend those responsible for the death of an adult male on Saturday, 22 March, 2025.
“Reports suggest that unknown gunmen opened fire on the occupant of a motor vehicle in a parking area in Sandown Road, Table View.
“The 55-year-old Mauritian foreign national did not survive this onslaught on his life.
“The unknown suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.
“The motive for this attack is believed to be a hit.”
Table View police spokesperson, Captain Adriana Chandler, said the public was to refrain from sharing images or videos of the scene.
“The cellphone of the victim was taken,” she said.
