Three bodies, including those of two adult men and a baby girl, were stolen from a private funeral parlour in Kuruman during the early hours of Monday morning in a shocking crime.

According to Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock, two unidentified suspects broke into the premises at approximately 1.30am on March 17. The criminals reportedly overpowered the on-duty security guard, subjecting him to a terrifying ordeal before making off with the corpses.

The assailants attacked the guard, blindfolded him, and tied him up in the facility's guardroom, preventing him from raising the alarm. By the time he was freed, the perpetrators had disappeared with the three bodies, leaving behind more questions than answers.

The motive behind the bold corpse heist remains unclear, as authorities are trying to establish whether the crime is connected to ritualistic practices or organ trafficking. This incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, leaving residents both horrified and confused.

The Northern Cape SAPS Provincial Crime Investigation Services (CIS) has launched an urgent probe into the case and is appealing to the public for assistance. Anyone with information that could lead to the capture of the suspects is urged to contact Lieutenant-Colonel Doggy Magugu on 082 469 0578, the SAPS Crime Stop number 08600 10111, or use the MySAPS app. All information will be handled with strict confidentiality.

As investigators work to uncover the details of this disturbing crime, families and community members are anxiously waiting for answers, while concerns about the safety of funeral homes in the area continue to grow.
