Talented singer and actress Halle Bailey is best known for her iconic role as “Ariel” in Disney’s live action remake of "The Little Mermaid".
However, her rise to fame began long before her underwater adventure. Alongside her sister Chloe Bailey, she formed the “American Alternative” R&B duo Chloe x Halle after being signed under American singer Beyonce’s record label, Parkwood Entertainment and they have been making waves ever since.
As a first time mom, Bailey absolutely loves to share some of the precious and heartwarming moments she experiences with her son Halo and this time it’s no different.
Recently, she took to her social media and shared a heartwarming video captioned: “Guys, I’m crying. He actually knows Ariel is me,” which showcased little Halo watching a scene from "The Little Mermaid' and where Bailey’s character Ariel, is seen appearing from under the water holding on to a jellyfish.

As she appears on the screen, Halo's eyes widen with excitement as he shouts “Mama!”, pointing to the TV screen.
In the background, Bailey can be heard laughing, clearly overwhelmed with pride and joy that her son can recognise her from the live-action remake of "The Little Mermaid". This heartwarming moment melted the hearts of fans.
This included @kamoniim, who commented: “This is going to be his favorite movie omg this is such a beautiful moment 🥺.”

When Bailey was cast as Ariel, she made history as the first black actress to play the iconic role.
However, her casting also came with backlash from some fans who felt that she did not fit the traditional image of Ariel. Despite the criticism, she remained unbothered and was committed to bringing her own interpretation of Ariel to the role.
The role was groundbreaking and served as a representation for black girls everywhere.
@freeda_en Representation matters. This message emerges stronger than ever from the reactions of so many black girls and young women towards the first trailer for the new Disney live action dedicated to The Little Mermaid. The trailer shows the actress who plays Ariel, Halle Bailey, singing the song "Part of Your World". #Freeda #Diversity #TheLittleMermaid #HalleBailey ♬ Canyons - Official Sound Studio
