Controversial celebrity basher Musa Khawula has abandoned his bail application.
On Wednesday, Khawula appeared at the Randburg Magistrate's Court on charges of crimen injuria and contempt of court.
His defence lawyer Ofentse Nkgwang said “I have consulted with the accused; there have been certain developments from the last sitting where the accused was charged for another matter in the Carletonville court where he is appearing.
“After consulting extensively with the accused, we have decided to abandon the bail application. We will not be proceeding with the bail application anymore. I’m not quite sure how far the investigations are with regard to this matter.
“We would like that, if possible, if all investigations have been completed, this closure be given to us so that we can prepare for trial.
“For us to proceed with a bail application while there is another matter pending that other side will honestly be a futile exercise for us to attend a bail application.”

Magistrate Liesel Davis postponed the matter to February 18 for the investigation to be finalised.
According to the NPA, the purported intention of the social media posts was to impair, injure or damage the dignity of businessman Ze Nxumalo.
Khawula is alleged to have posted derogatory statements between October 10 and 12 2024 on his social media platform, which has a “substantial” following.
On several occasions, Khawula has posted on social media alleging that Nxumalo was cheating on his wife, former Miss South Africa, Tamaryn Green.
In a separate matter, Khawula last week appeared in the Fochville Magistrates’ Court for an attempted murder charge.
Gauteng National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Lumka Mahanjana said the charges stem from an incident that took place on February 20, 2021, in Mponeng Mine.
"It is alleged that the complainant and his wife were driving home on a narrow road when they noticed a Volkswagen Polo parked along the roadway. The accused was standing next to the vehicle naked on his lower body.
