In an unexpected development, DJ Sbu has announced that he will continue his tenure at Radio 2000 for an additional 12 months, reversing his earlier decision to leave the station.

The renowned broadcaster, who has also gained recognition as a podcaster, made the announcement of his contract renewal on X this past Saturday, leaving fans and industry insiders alike surprised by the change in direction.

“I am pleased to let you know that I will be staying with Radio 2000, having concluded an agreement for another 12 months. Keep your ears tuned in to the big breakfast, weekdays 6-9am,” he wrote on X.

This change follows DJ Sbu's recent revelation that he would be leaving the station, which left listeners and fans wondering what he would do next.

Last week, renowned radio host Sibusiso Leope—who is well-known for his on-air persona—made the shocking revelation that he would be leaving SABC Radio before his contract expires in March 2025.

After being fired by Metro FM in 2015, Leope made a much-awaited return to the SABC airwaves last year with Radio 2000's Youth Endala broadcast.

"This decision comes earlier than the end of my contract, which was set to conclude on 30 March 2025.

“This choice was not easy, as my time at Radio 2000 was filled with invaluable experiences, cherished memories, and the joy of connecting with our wonderful audience,” this is what he said in his initial statement

Leope did not provide any further details about his comeback.
