The excitement is building for the 2025 edition of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF), as we round-up the first artist reveal with a highly anticipated phase 2 lineup coming soon. 

With over 20 more artists still to be unveiled, including some surprise international acts that are sure to leave festival-goers buzzing, this year’s festival is shaping up to be an unforgettable musical experience. The artists released so far are an eclectic mix of established legends and rising stars, bringing a fusion of genres, rich melodies, and undeniable talent. These artists are sure to set the stage on fire as they grace the festival with their dynamic performances:

Nduduzo Makhathini and Black Coffee are set to perform together at CTIJF 2025.
  • Black Coffee & Nduduzo Makhathini – South Africa’s beloved electronic music pioneer and revered jazz maestro team up for a one-of-a-kind collaboration that is sure to dazzle.
  • Benjamin Jephta featuring Kunjenga – Bassist, composer, and sonic explorer Benjamin Jephta stands at the forefront of contemporary jazz, effortlessly blending African rhythms with modern jazz and hip hop. Joined by the deeply evocative Kujenga, this performance will be a masterclass in groove, harmony, and improvisation—an immersive experience that appeals to both heart and intellect.
  • The Kyle Shepherd Trio – A mainstay in the South African jazz scene, Kyle Shepherd and his trio are set to showcase their rich improvisational skills and creative jazz storytelling.
  • Linda Sikhakhane – South Africa’s talented saxophonist, known for his captivating performances and distinctive sound, promises a memorable experience for festival-goers.
South Africa’s queen of Afro-soul, Lira, is making a comeback to the Cape Town International Jazz Festival stage after overcoming a significant health setback.
  • Thandiswa Mazwai – A festival favourite, Thandiswa brings her unapologetically South African jazz, Afro-pop, and soul influences, adding her powerhouse vocals to the stage.
  • Lira – South Africa’s beloved soul and jazz singer, Lira’s heart-warming voice will undoubtedly captivate audiences with her unique blend of soulful melodies. She makes a very welcome comeback to the festival where she first started her career.
  • Ari Lennox – This US-based R&B star will bring her soulful sounds and electrifying stage presence to the festival for a truly unforgettable performance.
  • Ward|Prins|Shepherd|Rubain – An exciting collaboration between prominent South African musicians, offering a fusion of jazz and experimental sounds that will push boundaries.

  • Victor Masondo Quartet ft. Thembi Mtshali and Bheki Khoza – A celebration of South Africa’s jazz heritage with this incredible quartet bringing a rich mix of sounds and collaborations with the talented Thembi Mtshali and Bheki Khoza.
  • Plurism – led by Swiss drummer Dominic Egli and featuring legendary trumpeter Feya Faku, the latest project, Umhlangano, is a boundary-pushing jazz ensemble that masterfully blends African and European influence.
  • Nomfundo Xaluva – The celebrated vocalist and composer will deliver her unique brand of Afro-jazz, soul, and contemporary sounds, offering an unforgettable experience.
