Pioneering South African duo Bandile and Banele Mbere, who make up Major League DJz, are making waves once again with their latest release, "Come With Me", a collaboration with UK sensation, Jorja Smith.
Smith is a singer whose soulful voice has been captivating listeners since she burst onto the scene in 2016 with her hit "Blue Lights".
With her debut album, "Lost & Found" in 2018, she quickly became a favourite for music lovers and fans are still here for her 2021 project, "Be Right Back".
The new single signals Major League DJz's official entry into the realm of electronic music, a journey that has been four years in the making.
As esteemed global ambassadors of amapiano, Major League DJz have honed their craft and expanded the genre's reach and their new single embodies their signature log drum rhythms infused with house and Afro-electronic sounds.
Speaking about the track the duo said in a joint statement: "'Come With Me' is a record we started working on 4 years ago. We knew we wanted to step into the electronic space in a way that still felt authentic to who we are and this track was the perfect balance."
Their long-held aspiration to collaborate with Smith finally materialised, marking this moment as a significant milestone in both their careers.
"We’ve also been wanting to work with Jorja on an original track for a while and now the timing feels perfect," said the brothers.
According to the statement, the single enjoyed an exclusive early spin from renowned DJ Pete Tong at a sold-out show in KOKO London, where audiences were treated to the infectious beats well before its official release.
This endorsement not only amplifies the anticipation surrounding the track but also solidifies Major League DJz’s position as trailblazers on the global music stage.
Looking ahead, Major League DJz is set to perform two headline shows at KOKO in April, where they are expected to bring their electric live experience to London audiences once again, further bridging cultural divides through music.
"With an array of star collaborators including Major Lazer, Tion Wayne, and Calvin Harris, their ambition is clear: to push boundaries, break barriers, and evolve the sound of African electronic music," read the statement.
