The dynamic South African production duo, Skatle and Gvnt, known for their role in the acclaimed group, Qwellers, have made a grand return to the music scene with their latest 15- track album, “SS2”.

The long-awaited sequel serves as an extension of their 12-track “Supa Sqinsi: Tape” album, which was released in 2023 and featured artists like Blue Pappi, Lacabra, Lowfeye, Sastii and Swayvsa, among others.

“SS2” showcases the duo's evolution not just as artisans but also as leaders within their community.

With Skatle and Gvnt on a mission to break down barriers that often restrict collaboration in the industry, their new project features collaborations from C-side Boyz, Buzzi Lee, Scumie, LaCabra, Lowfeye and Blue Pappi, among others.

Each track unfolds its own narrative, discussing themes of love, courage, personal growth, and the invigorating spirit of celebration that resonates deeply within the hip hop scene.

According to the statement, every artist involved has poured their experiences into the music, setting a standard for collaboration in African hip hop.

“‘SS2’ is a core representation to what collaboration looks like in Africa which is what we need more of. Listeners will definitely enjoy this sequel if you are a lover of hip hop and on the verge of unlocking a taste for new sounds and new discoveries.”

From the high-energy intro in “SS2 Intro” featuring Buzzi Lee and Scumie to the reflective closing track, “Run Away”, the duo invite listeners on a journey that underscores the vibrant and rapidly evolving landscape of South African hip hop.

Other tracks on the album include “Umgqibelo”, “Shoot3rs”, “Uhh Lehh”, “Number 1” and “Khuza”.
