Fans of iconic television are in for a treat as “Gossip Girl” star Leighton Meester prepares to reunite with her husband, Adam Brody, in the new season of “Nobody Wants This”.
The actress, best known for her role as Blair Waldorf in award-winning teen drama, “Gossip Girl”, will play Abby, who is described as Joanne’s (Kristen Bell) middle school nemesis who is now an Instagram mommy influencer.
Meanwhile, Bell is Brody’s love-interest in the show.
Netflix announced the news recently stating that “Nobody Wants This” season 2 table reads are in full swing with filming set to start in March.
The streaming giant also revealed that Jackie Tohn, who plays Esther Roklov (Noah’s sister-in-law), has been promoted to a series regular.
This latest casting announcement signifies yet another collaborative effort between Meester and Brody, who have worked together on multiple projects, including “The Oranges”, “Single Parents” and “River Wild”.
Since tying the knot in 2014, the couple has often expressed their desire to share their professional lives.
Brody, who gained widespread acclaim for his role as the “hot rabbi” in “Nobody Wants This”, recently earned a Critics Choice Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series,
Upon accepting the award he gave the most beautiful acceptance speech dedicated to his wife Meester and sealed the moment with a passionate kiss that felt straight out of a scene from the show.
The upcoming season not only brings the couple back to the screen but also reintroduces Meester to Bell, with whom she shares a brief professional history.
Their connection goes back to 2005, when Meester appeared in a guest role on “Veronica Mars”, while Bell lent her voice as the narrator on “Gossip Girl” throughout its acclaimed five-season run.
The first season's success has raised expectations and fans eagerly await the on-screen energy that only the couple can deliver.
