Lira, Mafikizolo, Mi Casa, Tuku set for #NubianMusicFest 2018

The Nubian Music Festival is back with not only Africa’s finest musicians live in a gorgeous setting, but also an entire weekend of entertainment for the whole family at Hartbeespoort Dam’s Eagle Waters Wildlife Resort from December 14 to 17.

Lira, Mafikizolo, Mi Casa, Oliver Mtukudzi, Selaelo Selota, Kunle and Candy Tsamandebele are just some of the diverse acts who will entertain crowds from all over Gauteng and the North West Province. 

Mpho Mathope, Nubian Music Festival creator said the festival was a chance to enjoy the views of the Hartbeespoort Dam and the Magaliesberg mountain range which offer beautiful scenery. 

"Wildlife such as blesbuck and zebras are free roaming in and around Eagle Waters Resort. Keen birdwatchers will be able to spot over 340 identified bird species. It’s a truly special setting for a festival.”

Those who have booked to stay in the chalets or are camping in their own tents or in upscale tent accommodation, for December 14 and 15, will have full access to the pools,  fishing facilities, water sports as well as the lion and cheetah parks,  zoo and elephant sanctuary.  At night, they will also be treated to a picnic movie under the stars.

The main festival will happen on December 16 and will feature Zimbabwean legend Oliver Mtukudzi and Afropop perennial favourites Mafikizolo. Afrocentric R&B and neo soul will be represented by Lira, Donald, Afrotraction and Encore. Latin tinged hitmakers Mi Casa and Candy Tsamandebele whose sound spans house and traditional music will keep crowds dancing. Afro Jazz acts Selaelo Selota, Gugu Shezi and Nigeria’s Kunle Ayo complete the lineup.

General access tickets cost R300 and VIP tickets will be R1 250.

On December 17 Nubian Music Festival Package ticket holders will round off their experience in style with a champagne breakfast on a boat. 

“The weekend will build on the foundation of last year's inaugural event and includes a larger and more diverse lineup of quality live performances, coupled with craft and family entertainment. The Nubian Festival aims to make Hartbeespoort a beacon of tourism in the North West Province,” said Mathope who is the founder of Nubian Touch (Pty) Ltd.
