The new special edition is limited to just 40 units and is available in three distinct exterior colours, namely White Pearl, Lapis Lazuli and Starlight Black, matched to bespoke Saddle Tan interior trim and Birds Eye Maple wood trim.
As they say on the infomercials, there's more. The Limited Edition is visually differentiated by larger 18-inch wheels.
Specification is further enhanced by High Intensity Discharge headlights with automatic levelling and washers, as well as LED Daytime Running Lights.
The auto-retractable exterior mirrors are heated and feature an auto-dimming function and memory. Rain sensing wipers are also added to the standard list of features.
Audiophiles will appreciate the Mark Levinson digital surround sound system with 5.1 channel playback and an additional four speakers, taking the total to 12. Owners also get to enjoy semi-aniline leather, seat coolers in addition to the standard seat heaters, and seat memory for driver and passenger.
Sharing the rest of the IS250C specification list, the Limited Edition continues to spoil with Hard Disk Drive Navigation on a seven-inch colour touch screen and an automatic climate control system that is specifically configured for open top driving.
The IS250C is one of only two 'coupe-convertibles' in its segment, the other being the BMW 3-Series, Lexus boasts that its three-piece aluminium folding hardtop has the quickest operation time in its segment and that it also offers the most boot space in both guises.
As with the ordinary IS250C, the Limited Edition is powered by the familiar 2.5-litre V6 petrol engine with 153kW and 252Nm on tap, and previous experience has proven it rather lazy at Highveld altitudes.
Then there's the price of R618 100. You can get the far brawnier, 190kW BMW 330i Convertible for slightly less than that, albeit without many of the bells and whistles that the Lexus boasts. Performance or toys? Take your pick…
