No need to rub your eyes as the design changes are barely visible on the facelifted BMW 1 Series Coupe and Convertible models.
Look closely at the front end and you might notice the restyled front apron, apron-integrated foglights and new vertical air intakes, which are also more aerodynamic thanks to an 'air curtain' effect that significantly reduces drag across the face of the front wheels.
The headlights and taillights are also new and although their shapes are familiar, the headlights get an upper accent strip and the taillights now feature an all-red housing and integrated LED accent lights.
What's more, BMW has added to the colour palette with new Vermilion Red and Marrakesh Brown metallics and there are new 17-inch and 18-inch wheel options.
Inside, the range of seat upholstery and decorative trim features has been extensively revised, with new upholstery options including Magma Brown cloth and Oyster or Savanna Beige 'Boston' leather. Other new interior options are a sports leather steering wheel with shift paddles and an M leather steering wheel, again with shift paddles.
The engines carry over from the previous version, except that the 135i gets BMW's latest N55 twin-scroll turbocharged 3-litre six-pot petrol engine in place of the previous twin turbo version. Although the 225kW output remains unchanged, the engine is claimed to offer improved efficiency and better throttle response.
