Mamelodi Sundowns’ Brazilian forward Arthur Sales was delighted after scoring his first goal for the club in their 3-0 Betway Premiership win over Sekhukhune United on Saturday night.

Sales, a record-signing from Belgian SK Lommel, scored Sundowns’ second goal on the night via the penalty spot. Despite this, he was happy to break his duck for the champions finally.

Speaking via a translator, Sales said his goal was important as it helped boost his confidence.

“The first goal in Sundowns, so he’s happy and thank you for all the team. To Lucas [Ribeiro Costa] also for giving the penalty,” the translator said while speaking to SuperSport after the game at Loftus Versfeld in Tshwane.

“He says he’s very happy here. The people is very happy, so the feeling is nice he’s happy in the country, very nice continent so he’s happy here.

And on top of that, Sales was happy with the quality of players he has around him at the Betway Premiership champions.

“Yeah, it’s my team it’s very quality. I am very surprising to play with this team because I have 30 players very, very well and I’m very happy to play with this guys and enjoy this team, that’s it.”

The Brazilians moved to the summit of the league table after the win, but will surrender top spot should Orlando Pirates pick up at least a point from their encounter against Stellenbosch FC on Sunday afternoon. That game kicks off at 3.30pm.

With their next two league games postponed due to their involvement in the CAF Champions League, Sundowns’ Betway Premiership campaign will resume on December 18 when they travel to the Western Cape to take on Stellenbosch.
