It wasn’t pretty, but Kaizer Chiefs made it through to the Nedbank Cup semifinals with a hard-fought victory over Stellenbosch at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.

The drama wasn’t just on the field — controversial moments had fans talking long after the final whistle. But in the end, Chiefs did what they do best, digging deep and coming away with the win.

Next up for Amakhosi is either Mamelodi Sundowns or Sekhukhune United. It’s going to be a fierce battle — no question about it.

Orlando Pirates also booked their place in the last four, but it wasn’t without a fight. A 2-2 draw after 120 minutes against SuperSport United was only settled by a tense penalty shootout.

Pirates edged the shootout 5-4, but this one will haunt SuperSport for a while.

The Buccaneers are hungry, and they’ll be gunning for revenge when they face Marumo Gallants in the semifinals, with the added bonus of a home fixture.

Marumo Gallants had to dig deep on Sunday against second-tier side Durban City. The match went into extra time, and when penalties came around, it was clear who had the experience. Gallants survived a penalty shootout, but they’ll have to be better if they want to reach the final.

With Chiefs and Pirates through to the semifinals, one thing is clear: the Soweto Derby is the dream final. These two giants, each with massive followings, are desperate for the silverware. Chiefs are looking to end a decade-long drought, while Pirates are eyeing their third consecutive Nedbank Cup. It’s all set up for a final to remember.
