Amsterdam is one of Europe's most beautiful cities, for good reason. Its canals and waterways add an air of romance to this amazing ancient city. Pictures: Dr Norman Cahi.
The mansions lining the major canals are magnificent and architectural masterpieces.
The exquisite entrance to the world famous Rijksmuseum invites visitors to see jaw-dropping Old Dutch art pieces of beauty and historical significance.
Anne Frank, the girl child who was kept hidden for years from the Nazis, is immortalised in the Anne Frank Museum. There are numerous street art murals of her too.
Van Gogh has his own Museum where his paintings are displayed. Vincent Van Gogh is of course one of the world's greatest artists in history and his SUNFLOWERS works are hung here and all over the world.
We also visited the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and had the chance to see the original Banksy piece Girl with the Red Balloon. Shortly after, it was sold for millions of dollars, only to have the original work shredded! However, despite this ‘misfortune’, the piece was later resold for even more, fetching tens of millions of dollars.

Ofcourse we visited Keukenhof to see the spectacular displays of my favourite flower.
The gardens all over Amsterdam in March /April are absolutely stunning.
We tasted the best of the Dutch capital's delicious food including cheese, poffertjies (mini sweet pancakes), hot fries, rijsttafel smorgasbord buffets and delectable desserts.
