Bloemfontein - The body of a two-year-old baby was found in municipal sewerage by workers of the Mafube local municipality at Tweeling, police said on Monday.
Police spokesman Sergeant Mmako Mophiring said workers found the body of the girl when they started working at the sewerage site at about 8am on Monday.
The body had not yet been identified, and the community was urged to come forward with information.
The child was found with long red pants, a green long sleeve jersey with a red and purple heart design, and pink and green socks.
Mophiring said an inquest had been registered at the Tweeling police station and a post-mortem would be conducted to establish the cause of death. - Sapa
