Bloemfontein - Two men are still on the run after allegedly murdering a man at a popular car wash and recreation area on the N8 to Thaba’nchu, Free State police said on Thursday.
Letoane Johannes Raphoko, 28, and Molefi Phohleli, 22 appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court earlier this week in connection with the killing.
However, two other suspects were still on the run.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Sinah Mpakane said Heidedal police were called to the scene on Sunday morning.
“On arrival they discovered the naked body of a man in his thirties. It is alleged that the victim was assaulted by security guards at the car wash,” he said.
The two suspects were arrested shortly after the incident.
Mpakane said police recovered the victim’s clothes and two knobkerries allegedly used during the assault, from a container at the car wash.
Four cellphones, bank cards and medical aid cards were also confiscated from the suspects.
Police are appealing for assistance to identify the victim – the clothes belonging to him were a brown jersey, khaki jacket and blue tracksuit pants.
