Bloemfontein -
Two rural Free State communities were without electricity on Wednesday afternoon because of the weather, Eskom said.
Sterkfontein and Swinburn, near Harrismith, had power failures, provincial spokeswoman Stefanie Jansen van Rensburg said.
Forty-six Eskom customers in Sterkfontein and 183 in the Swinburn region were affected.
“We will ensure that the electricity is restored as soon as possible.”
However, snow in the areas was hindering Eskom teams in their search for the faults on the system.
Jansen van Rensburg said all electrical equipment in the areas should be considered live at all times because electricity could be switched on without notice. -Sapa
