Bloemfontein - The Democratic Alliance in the Free State on Monday expressed condolences to the family and friends of its slain Bohlokong, Bethlehem, branch chairman.
“It is with tremendous sadness that we learn of the death of one of our most dynamic DA activists,” the party's Free State chairwoman Annelie Lotriet said.
Bohlokong branch chairman Thami Vumendlini was murdered when two people hijacked his car on Friday afternoon.
Free State police spokesman Constable Peter Kareli said two young men, aged 17 and 21, were arrested in Arlington.
Lotriet thanked the police for their rapid response.
“Vumendlini was a dedicated DA activist, tirelessly working in Bohlokong to advance the DA's goal of bringing about an open, opportunity society for all.”
She said Vumendlini's death left a void, and a determination to work towards a crime-free society. - Sapa
