Bloemfontein - The body of a missing six-year-old girl has been found at a dumping site in Mangaung, Free State police said in a statement on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Colonel Thandi Mbambo said the child, Sandiswe Sintwa, went missing on Saturday, October 14.
"It was alleged that she was lured away by a man who was holding a puppy while she was playing with a friend at her home in Chris Hani, Mangaung", Mbambo said.
The child's partially decomposed body was found under a tree at a dumping site near Phase 5 in Mangaung. She had no visible injuries, but a postmortem will determine how she died and whether she was sexually assaulted.
Free State Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Lebeoana Tsumane condemned the murder and appealed to the community to come forward with any information. He also urged the community not to take the law into their own hands.
