Bloemfontein - An 18-year-old girl’s matric dance ended tragically when she was raped by two men on her way home, Free State police said in a statement on Monday.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Mamello Mokhuoane said after attending her matric dance after party, a taxi dropped her and other learners off near Dieketseng Primary School in Bronville.
It was about 3am on Sunday morning, October 9.
“It is alleged that after being dropped off the learners went their separate ways and the 18 year-old girl had to walk home alone. On the way she came across two unknown men who allegedly passed her then attacked her from behind. They allegedly dragged her to an open field where they robbed her of R100 cash, a cellphone and raped her. The suspects fled the scene on foot.”
Mokhuoane said Bronville police were called to the scene. Investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Mishack Tladi, has appealed to anyone with information to come forward. He can be contacted on 079 573 6233 or 057 910 2395.
