Johannesburg -

A school in Thabong, Free State was set alight in the early hours of Saturday morning, police said.

“Thabong police are investigating a case of arson after the administration building was torched at Letsete Secondary School,” spokesman Warrant Officer Malebo Khosana said in a statement.

The fire was discovered by a security guard who was doing his rounds throughout the school. He then called the fire fighters and the police to scene.

“On investigating the scene, it was found that two windows were broken and two bottles containing a flammable liquid were used to burn the staff room and the office next to it. It is suspected that the cause of the fire could be petrol bombs,” said Khosana.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire. The motive was not known. - Sapa
