Johannesburg - A Welkom security guard was allegedly sexually assaulted by a dog on the orders of his employer’s teenage son.
The employer allegedly threatened to kill the guard if he reported the incident to the police.
The Welkom Family Violence and Sexual Offences Unit is investigating the claims.
The 57-year-old guard reported the case to the police shortly after the incident. The perpetrator allegedly filmed the incident.
The security company employed the security guard to protect vandalised buildings in the area, just five days before the alleged attack.
Free State police spokesman Captain Stephen Thakeng said the 16-year-old son of the security company’s owner was also protecting a building accompanied by a guard dog on the night of the alleged sexual assault earlier this month.
When the guard came on duty, the teenager allegedly instructed the dog to attack the guard and tear off his trousers.
“Then the dog was instructed to rape the employee,” said Thakeng, who indicated the dog then tried to mount the security guard.
“Photos were allegedly taken and later a video was also done when the dog was busy trying to rape the employee,” he said.
The guard tried to approach the father of the teenage boy, but the parent allegedly threatened to kill him if he tried to report the incident to the police and also implied he had connections among senior police officials, Thakeng said.
“He reported on duty as usual the following day, and on arrival, he was forced to enter the place where the dog is kept, by both the son and his father,” he said.
The guard told his employer he would rather die than be in the same room as the dog, and reported the case to the Welkom police on Monday last week.
The father and son were arrested and appeared on Tuesday in the Welkom Magistrate’s Court, where they were charged with “compelled sexual assault”, intimidation and crimen injuria.
The father was granted bail of R2 000, while the son was placed in his mother’s care.
