Welkom – A 34-year-old man was shot dead in the Thabong informal settlement near Welkom on Sunday, Free State police said on Monday.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Mamello Mokhuoane said Tefo David Mopeli was with friends and family at his home in Constantia Road when the attack happened just before 4pm in the afternoon.
An unknown man allegedly kicked open the door and shot Mopeli in the neck. Mopeli died on the scene.
Mokhuoane said the motive for the murder was unknown.
