Bloemfontein - An unidentified man was burned to death when his car collided with a truck on the N1 highway, about five kilometres out of Ventersburg in the Free State in the early hours of Tuesday, provincial police reported.
“It is alleged that the unidentified driver of the Hyundai i10 sedan made a U-turn on the road and was hit by an oncoming truck headed in the Windburg direction,” police spokesperson Sergeant Mamello Mokhuoane said. “It is alleged that the truck could not stop and pulled the sedan a few meters before it came to a standstill. The sedan ended up in flames with the driver still in the vehicle.”
They say the driver of the sedan burned to death and could not be immediately identified.
The truck driver did not sustain any injuries and a case of culpable homicide was registered at the Ventersburg SAPS, pending further investigation Mokhuoane said.
