Johannesburg - A man convicted of robbing and raping an 11 and 12-year-old boy was sentenced to 100 years behind bars, Free State police said on Saturday.
The 23-year-old Mpho Petrus Mofokeng was sentenced in the Bethlehem High Court on Friday, said Sergeant Mmako Mophiring.
He raped the two boys in 2012.
“The accused met two boys on their way to a shop. He robbed them of their money and took them to a dilapidated house in the township where he raped each two times,” said Mophiring.
“He was later arrested the day after the incident was reported to the police.”
Mofokeng however was accused of raping two other prisoners while behind bars.
Both prisoners opened cases but they could no longer be traced once they were deported back to their country of origin, Lesotho.
“The accused was therefore, charged with four rapes and robbery. He received effective 20 years imprisonment effective for each count,” said Mophiring. - Sapa
