Bloemfontein - Another woman has laid sexual assault charges against a Bloemfontein doctor, Free State police said on Thursday.
Captain Chaka Marope said the woman, 28, filed charges against the 32-year-old doctor after she read in the newspapers he was arrested for an alleged rape.
Marope said the woman told police she went to the doctor’s consultation rooms in May this year.
It was alleged that he gave her an injection which made her feel dizzy and sleepy.
When she woke up she was surprised to find herself apparently naked and the doctor on top of her touching her sexually. Marope said due to her state of mind she could not recall whether she was raped.
After the alleged ordeal, the woman suffered severe depression and was admitted to the Bloem Care Medical Centre for medical and trauma counselling for the past four months.
The doctor was arrested recently after a woman, 45, alleged that she visited him at his consulting rooms on a Saturday.
The woman alleged the doctor forcefully undressed and raped her. After the ordeal she went home and alerted the police.
The man was arrested on the same day and appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on October 15.
Marope said he was granted R2 000 bail. His case was postponed to October 22. - Sapa
