Bloemfontein - Free State police were on Thursday investigating the rape and murder of a 40-year-old woman whose badly decomposed body was found at a guesthouse in Bloemfontein.
“This gruesome discovery was made on Wednesday... at around 6pm by one of the employees of the guesthouse after a ravaging smell that came out of one of the rooms,” said police spokesperson Chaka Marope.
When the employee went into the room, she found the victim’s naked body hidden under the bed.
“According to police preliminary investigations on the scene, it is suspected that the woman was strangled and raped,” said Marope.
“It was also established she was last seen on Saturday, 7 March 2015, at around 8pm when she checked in at the guesthouse, accompanied by an unknown man and a woman.”
Police were requesting help from the public in identifying the victim’s companions.
