Johannesburg - A pensioner was killed during a robbery in Reitz, Free State police said on Monday.
“The female pensioner was attacked during a house robbery together with her elderly brother in their house in town,” Sergeant Mmako Mophiring said.
“They were both found tied up in the house. A small safe containing an undisclosed amount of cash was missing.”
The attack happened on Sunday night.
Mathilda Viljoen, 83, appeared to have been strangled. Her brother, Johannes, 86, was alive and appeared to have suffered blows to his face.
The house's main door was broken. A case of murder, house robbery, and assault had been opened. No arrests had been made. - Sapa
