The case against a 37-year-old taxi driver accused of hacking a nurse to death was postponed by the Welkom Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, Free State police said.
Captain Stephen Thakeng said the case was postponed to May 23, for the formal bail application of accused William Lefa Thibeli.
Emily Mojabeng Tabo was killed last month as she was on her way to work.
Thibeli allegedly crashed into her car from behind, jumped out and started attacking her with the axe.
He then allegedly drove off in her green Toyota Tazz, and was arrested a short while later.
Thibeli had reportedly just been released from jail, after serving five years for shooting and wounding another ex-girlfriend, when the incident occurred.
A number of nurses were present outside court, demanding that Thibeli must not be granted bail.
He will remain in custody until his next appearance. -
