Bloemfontein – A 16-year-old Grade 10 pupil in Thabong in the Free State has been arrested after he allegedly stabbed his 17-year-old friend to death after an argument about clothes.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Mamello Mokhuoane said the pupil from one of the Secondary Schools in Thabong was arrested on Monday after he allegedly stabbed friend Mpho Theon Musi on Saturday afternoon.
“It is alleged Musi went to his friend’s house to fetch his cap when a fight broke out between them about clothes that they had borrowed from each other,” Mokhuoane said. “The 16- year-old boy allegedly stabbed Musi once on the chest. The 16-year-old suspect then fled the scene on foot. Thabong police and Emergency Services were summoned to the scene. Emergency Services personnel certified Musi dead on the scene.”
A case of murder was registered at Thabong police for further investigation and the suspect handed himself in on Monday morning. He was arrested and charged with murder.
The suspect was released into his grandmother’s custody and will appear at the Welkom Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
