Bloemfontein - A third man believed to be connected to a Parys farm murder was arrested on Friday, said Free State police.
Constable Peter Kareli said members of Sasolburg's organised crime unit arrested a 48-year-old man in Langlaagte, Johannesburg on Friday at 10am.
Ernest van Rooyen and his wife Annetjie, both in their 70s, were found dead on their farm in Somerset, near Parys last month.
A domestic worker arrived to find the farmhouse ransacked. She and a neighbouring farmer discovered the couple's bodies in the garage.
Ernest's feet had been bound and his head covered with a sack. Annetjie's body was in a freezer.
Two men had already appeared in court in relation to the incident.
Ezekiel Mnguni, 30, and Mmaditaba Mokubung, 46, would be back in court on March 20.
During their last court appearance, they were denied bail.
Kareli said the two men were arrested in Zamdela, near Sasolburg, after they were found with groceries and cellphones belonging to the couple.
The third man - who police regarded as the main suspect in the matter - would appear in the Parys Magistrate’s Court on Monday. - Sapa
