Two Gauteng men were arrested at a petrol filling station near the N1 highway outside Bloemfontein for allegedly selling drugs, Free State police said on Wednesday.

Sergeant Mmako Mophiring said the Hawks and members of the public order unit searched the men's vehicle after receiving information around 7.45pm on Tuesday.

“The police followed up information with regard to Mandrax tablets to be distributed and sold in Bloemfontein.”

Mophiring said the information led police to garage near the N1

where two men were found sitting in a blue BMW vehicle with GP registration plates.

The vehicle was searched and two plastic packets containing 2 000 Mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R90 000 were found.

The men, aged between 28 and 39, from Florida and Westbury, were arrested.

They were expected to appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Thursday facing charges of dealing in drugs. - Sapa
