Bloemfontein – Bloemfontein police have arrested two suspects following a house robbery in Stephen Street late on Thursday night, Free State police said on Sunday.
Four men gained entry to the house by breaking a window and threatened the residents with knives, Constable Wendy Nkabi said in a statement.
The men took two cellphones, a bank card, alcohol, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Preliminary investigation revealed that one suspect kept watch at the door while his accomplices were busy in the house, she said.
The suspects fled the scene in a gold Citi Golf with registration number CXC 189 FS, belonging to one of the victims.
Parkweg police were informed of the incident and an alert was put out.
Officers patrolling in Doctor Belcher spotted four men fitting the description at an ATM.
The officers approached the men and when they were searched some of the items reported stolen from the house were found in their possession.
Two suspects managed to flee on foot, but the other two were arrested and the vehicle was recovered, Nkabi said.
The two suspects, aged 28, would appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate`s Court on Monday.
